The product developed by Process Chemicals relies on two basic principles namely:
- Repellency due to sense of touch
- Repellency due to smell
SCARECROW is slippery in nature and contain active ingredient. These polymeric compositions are designed to provide sufficient aversion to birds when they perch on the surface treated with this repellent due to its slippery nature.
The composition is weather proof and does not dry up in cold condition or melt off at high temperature. It does not dissolve in water and thus cannot be washed away by water. The composition is chemically inert and does not attack the base surface like metallic surface.
The composition is manufactured using totally non poisonous naturally occurring ingredients. It is nonlethal not only to birds but also to human beings.
The coverage is one liter of gel covers 4 – 5 square feet of surface when a 3 mm layer is applied.
The effective life of coating is about a year as there is possibility of dust accumulation which may make the top surface redundant.
The gel creates slippery and uneven surface. When birds touch the treated surfaces they don’t find the surface convenient to perch. Further by the technical and logical process of discovery the message of repellency is conveyed to the entire community living in the near by area. Repeated studies show beyond doubt that the birds move to another area.
The intensity of bird perching is reduced to negligible during the first one year and there will hardly be any need to reapply the material in the next session of one and half year. However if in a small pocket the problem still persists treatment is required only by replacing upper 1 mm layer.
